Zenless Zone Zero Role-Playing Game
Introduction
Neon Lights Flicker On
Sixth Street - Dusk
You look up from the HDD system, rolling your stiff neck. The faint blue glow of the monitor reflects on your face. Your eyes are dry—a lingering side effect of staring at data streams for too long.
Pushing open the glass door of Random Play, the wind chimes let out a crisp chime.
Dusk on Sixth Street looks like a spilled paint palette. Sparks fly from the charcoal grills of barbecue stalls in the embers of the sunset. In the distance, the holographic advertisement at Lumina Square is switching from the 'Good Citizen Medal' to the latest B-Mask. Green digital rain drips from the edges of the screen, soaking the entire street. The air is a mix of engine oil, chili peppers, and the sweet scent of overripe mangoes.
A blue-eyed Husky wearing a green shirt wipes his paws on his apron and nods at you.
"Howl, is today's evening paper here yet?" you ask casually.
He wags his tail and uses a paw to slide over a folded copy of the New Eridu Tribune. The headline is printed in bold: "Increased activity from The Vision; Public Security warns citizens to exercise caution when heading to the Outer Ring".
You take the newspaper, your eyes scanning the print. Suddenly, the automated broadcast on the street corner blares, announcing the Hollow disaster index—Orange Alert.
Everything seems normal, yet undercurrents are surging.

An Uninvited Guest
Instant Riches? Or a Trap?
Just as you roll up the newspaper Howl handed you and tuck it under your arm, you spot a dazzling figure standing at the shop entrance.
Her pink twin-tails seem almost ablaze under the neon lights, and the yellow heart-shaped earrings on her earlobes sway back and forth. Nicole Demara stands with her arms crossed, her tight crop top and hot pants accentuating her signature curves. The green Bangboo pouch "Amillion" at her waist sways with the impatient tapping of her leg.
"Yo, busy bee," she says with a smirk, her voice crackling with electric energy. "I've got a job for you. The pay is enough to rent another storefront on Sixth Street. You in?"
Before you can even answer, she squeezes into the shop, pulls a projection disc from her pocket, and slaps it onto the table. A blue light rises, unfolding a Hollow map in mid-air—deep-layer data of the Crete Hollow.
"Some idiot client dropped a batch of high-value cargo in the Hollow," she lowers her voice. "But there have been recent sighting reports of brutes there... so you were the first one I thought of, Phaethon."
She winks her green eyes, smiling slyly and confidently.
As you look at the map, Dennies dance in your head. The wind chimes ring again. Anby Demara is standing at the door before you know it, an expressionless face beneath her greyish-white short hair, her hand resting on her sword hilt.
"Nicole said to make it quick," she adds briefly.
The neon tubes flicker, and a low, non-human roar echoes from the far end of the street.

Deep in the Hollow
Crete Hollow - B1
The light inside a Hollow is never right. It's a grayish-purple shimmer, like static on an old TV screen, draining the true color from everything. As you step onto the ruins of the metal corridor, the friction between your soles and the floor is magnified a hundred times in the silence.
Eos—your blue Bangboo—buzzes at your feet, its antenna spinning as it emits a peaceful hum.
"Energy reaction detected three hundred meters ahead," Fairy's voice sounds calmly in your earpiece. "Detour recommended, Master."
But Nicole has already rushed in that direction, with Anby close behind. Only Billy Kid remains by your side, his red jacket looking like a flame in the eerie light.
"Hey, Boss," he whispers, the yellow lights on his mechanical face flickering cheerfully. "If a big guy pops out later, hide behind me—I'm a Starlight Knight!"
Before he can finish, a loud, bone-crushing crack echoes from the darkness at the end of the corridor, and a shadow lunges forward with incredible speed—
The next second, metal clashes, sparks fly, and purple blood splatters.
You roll behind a concrete pillar for cover, your heart hammering against your chest like a drum. Eos emits a rapid alarm, and Fairy's voice shifts into a cold combat tone:
"Ethereals locked on. Count: three. Authorization to use Level 2 Tactical Modules is recommended."
Nicole yells back at you amidst the shifting shadows and light, her voice drowned out by battle cries.
You grit your teeth and swipe your finger across the HDD interface.
This Hollow journey is far deeper than imagined.

In New Eridu—the last city of humanity after the Hollow Disaster—players take on the role of a Proxy, traversing dangerous Hollows to help various factions explore the unknown and fight Ethereals. From commissions for the Cunning Hares to the crisis at Belobog Heavy Industries, from the operations of Section 6 to racing with the Outer Ring's biker gangs, you will be swept up in one conspiracy and adventure after another. As the investigation goes deeper, mutated Ether, rampaging Ethereals, the mysterious Panegyric... all truths point to the secret behind the fall of the old capital. Can you find the light in the darkness and become the key to changing fate?
